placing new flower does not light all chunks bordering flower

I simply changed the type of chunk to add to a flower and though that it would recalculate the lighting it does, but it does not propogate the lighting to other chunks besides the one the flower is in.  Any ideas?


If I remove a block from the adjacent chunk then it populates the new lighting.  I thought that the light propagated outside the current chunk at least from what I looked at the code I thought it did.  The terrain generates with flowers on it and they light across chunks just fine.
